The director of Emmy-winning documentary and 2015 Oscar- nominated “Cartel Land,” is releasing a docu-series “The Trade,” on the opioid crisis premiered this Friday on Showtime.
The film is set in Ohio, Atlanta, and Mexico on the subject of heroin and drug addiction.
reports Los Angeles Times. Film critics said The Trade shows the effects of the opioid crisis in an intimate way and give a human perspective to what is occurring to the lives of suffering families.
The US’s Centre for Disease Control and Prevention states that opioid crisis has already killed 100,000 people between 2015 and 2016. The total number of deaths from opioid overdoses also increased from 5, 400 to 63,600 in 1999 according to The Telegraph.
